Hazardous Materials Awareness

This course is designed to provide the level of response for people who are likely to witness or discover a hazardous materials release and initiate an emergency response sequence. Students will learn to recognize the presence of hazardous materials, the role of the first responders in an emergency plans, how to use the Emergency Response Guidebook and how and when to call for assistance. This course meets 29 CFR 1910.120(q). This class will give the student the following:

• An understanding of what hazardous materials are, and the risks associated with them in an incident
  
• An understanding of the potential outcomes associated with an emergency created when hazardous materials are present
  
• The ability to recognize the presence of hazardous materials in an emergency
